Description
To: Hiring Manager I am responding to the position that you have posted on the intranet. My goal is to find employment where my 26 plus years in the Power Plant Industry can be mutually beneficial. I am very interested in this opportunity. I am in hopes that upon reading my resume, you will agree that we have mutually beneficial reasons to meet. A brief snap shot of my credentials include: Currently I’m the sole live on site Hydroelectric Operator for Monterey County. 15 years as an Operator, experienced in Hydroelectric, Coal, Biomass power and steam plants. 11 years as Maintenance Mechanic at a 28MW Waste to Energy Facility. I have respected leadership skills with experience as Confined Space Supervisor and Rescue. I have a proven track record of implementing production and safety improvements. Shone Ability to learn new systems, procedures and think on my feet in stressful situations. I have maintained an exceptional safety track record. Additionally I have designed and implemented several critical improvements to the plants where I have worked. My attendance record is exceptional. I have and will worked multiple shifts and significant overtime hours as needed. I also have traveled to contribute my expertise to other plants, offering them my technical support and I’m eager to continue doing all of these things for the right employer. After nearly 25 years in the solid fuel side of the industry, when the coal fired facility I worked at for years was forced to close. I was offered several of their refinery positions but was not overly interested in living in Los Angeles or on the east coast. I knew I needed a path to make the transfer to the hydroelectric side of the industry. Since coming on board with Monterey County Water Resource Agency, I have been a key player in getting a plant back up and running that had been down nearly a year when I arrived. I have acted as the point of contact for Contractors and County supervisors. I act as operator, mechanic and purchase agent. Since 6/3/13 I have been the sole hydroelectric operator for the county on duty 24/7. I live on site. The location is fairly isolated. I’m very tuned into the mechanical workings of the plant. Besides looking after the hydroelectric plant I also look after both the Nacimiento, San Antonio dams and other Monterey County properties. I work hard to meet all of the plant, dam, river and MCWRA’s needs. I am a jack of all trades, with a can do getter-done attitude. This position sounds like an outstanding opportunity and I welcome the chance to discuss your needs and outline my strengths in person. You may reach me at the numbers listed below. Thank you, in advance, for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Russell B. Kelso rbkelso@hotmail.com 10690 Nacimiento Lake dr.
