The position would maximize my clinical, training and teaching skills. My passion to teach and help others started when I was a camp counselor and coach. It was then I realized my strength in working with children and my interest in the field of counseling. My desire to help others coupled with my thirst for knowledge about child development led me to pursue my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Throughout my schooling and career I have gained extensive experience working clinically with children and adults as well as in training others on the best practices to help our youth and families. In 1994, due to my past experience I was approached by Westchester County AIDS Council to establish the first camp in Westchester for children and families with specials needs (HIV/AIDS). As the Director of Project Care, I provided counseling services and supervised the yearlong mental health program. Camp Viva still exists today providing essential services. Utilizing the same model we developed from Camp Viva, I founded Growth and Development Services (GDS) to target "at risk" youth and families. GDS provides educational empowerment, counseling, case management, and after school services. In my role as the Director of Therapeutic Services I provide counseling to our clients as well as supervise all clinical services delivered by social workers, psychologists and interns.
