Summary I have been working in Plastic Injection Molds and Molding industry since 1979. I apprenticed and worked as a moldmaker for about 12 years. I was then formally trained as a mold designer which I did solely for about 10 years working into CAD manager for a mold shop, then Engineering Manager for a custom injection molder for 12 years. I am heavily involved with product design and development. I oversee mold designs for custom plastic parts having served all industries including medical, automotive, electronics and consumer. I routinely offer design recommendations for manufacturing (DFM) to our customer. I am also quite familiar with ISO 9000:2001 and ISO 13485 procedures. I have developed dependable domestic and off shore sources for plastic molding, molds, prototyping and other types of production. I have traveled to China on a regular basis to train my suppliers in order to provide me with quality molds and plastic products. I believe it is very important to work closely with my suppliers in order to ensure quality products. My supplier base is extensive and continues to grow. Most recently I am the Senior Tooling Engineer for a large medical OEM, overseeing our Asian suppliers in China, Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore. I am currently based in Shenzhen, China. Abbott Diagnostics, Irving, TX January 2014 to Present Senior Tooling Engineer * Specify, quote, source and oversee all new mold designs and mold builds by our Asian suppliers. * Provide plastic part design and offer "Design for Manufacturing" (DFM) service for our engineering department. * Attend mold trials and troubleshoot the molds and part processing. * Our products are blood diagnostics machines used in Hospitals, Blood Banks and Labs. Kennerley-Spratling, San Leandro, CA July 2012 to January 2014 Senior Tooling Manager * Specify, quote, source and oversee all new mold designs and mold builds for tools used in our custom plastic injection molding facility using domestic and off-shore sources for tooling. * Provide plastic part design and offer "Design for Manufacturing" (DFM) service for our customers. * Our main focus was automotive, commercial and consumer markets with molding presses ranging from 80 to 1760 tons Wright Engineered Plastics, Santa Rosa, CA February 2001 to June 2012 Engineering Manager * Responsible for developing all new plastic injection tooling projects coming into our facility. This consists of working closely with the product designers to optimize their design for manufacturing (DFM). This includes material suggestions, as well as form, fit and function of their product. * Oversee the design, build and sampling of all the new molds. * Use Solidworks, FEA simulation software as well as and Moldflow analysis software. * 12 years developing domestic and off shore suppliers in order to provide quality custom molds for our injection molding facility. For 10 years, the majority of my suppliers have been in Asia. * Manage multiple projects concurrently with measurably favorable results. * Routinely seek and provide cost reductions for customers as well as process improvement.
