I am a Medical Doctor from Russia with 5 years of experience in clinical care, 4 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and 1 year of experience in clinical research. Fluent in English and Russian, I completed my MD degree in 2003 and participated in a 2 year study of toxoplasmosis in canines where I gained laboratory experience collecting, preparing, mounting and examining biological specimens. I went on to work as a psychiatrist in a psychiatric hospital where I provided care to inpatients suffering from severe mental illness by evaluating their psychiatric history, counseling patients one-to-one, prescribed treatment and interacted with patients' family members. In this position I participated in a year-long study to evaluate the effect of a new generation of antipsychotic on patients' abilities to maintain employment. I recruited, screened and interviewed patients regularly about the side effects they experienced, and the results of the study were published in the Russian Psychiatric Journal. I also worked for 4 years as a medical representative at Pfizer where I promoted the benefit of cardiac products, Lipitor and Norvasc, to cardiologists. I hope to apply my clinical background in clinical research.
