Description
Greetings, While I have never served in the United States Military, I have a strong desire to provide something important to my country. Due to current events around the world, I returned to higher education to accomplish this goal. I enrolled at New England Institute of Technology in 2013 and completed my Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2015. I am an able-bodied mechanically inclined 54 year old man and I am currently seeking employment with Electric Boat. As an E-2 Journeyman, I have accumulated twenty seven years of electrical experience. I have enjoyed the problem solving skills this position required & the continued learning processes. I consider myself very outgoing & accommodating when working with others. Along with Electrical Safety & Training awareness, most of my experience in the electrical field has been associated with either commercial grade or industrial explosion proof electrical installations. Recently I have enjoyed the opportunity to participate with refueling outage related electrical work for Day & Zimmerman at the Millstone Nuclear Power Station here in Waterford Ct. My experience at Millstone N.P.S. while working for IBEW Local 90 pertained mostly to Preventive Maintenance on 345,000 volt switchyard equipment, 345,000 volt RSST (reserve station service transformer) and NSST (normal service station transformer) High Voltage new cabling installations, Variable Frequency Drive cable vault installations, and assisting with G.T.S. (Generation Test Services). Work for G.T.S. involved validation and re-certification testing, cleaning, and dielectric lubrication for high voltage / high current generator related equipment associated with the General Electric Main Steam Turbine - Dynamo. Common testing voltage was 50,000 volts. Safety came first with this type of work. Additional experience at Millstone N.P.S. was on the 50,000 volt / 30,000 amp Air Blast pneumatic Main Breaker service and rebuild work orders. In closing, I believe that with my successful completion of an Associate Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the age of 54 I have demonstrated that I can learn new skills, as outlined in the attached resume’ I eagerly await your reply and the opportunity of a conversation about my skills and goals. Respectfully, Ross Betchley
