RssMortgage Industry/Experienced in various aspects/departments-20+ years

I started in the mortgage industry in 1982 through an employment agency. With the help of experienced co-workers in this field, I learned through hands-on experience every aspect of the process from initiating a loan package to closing the loan. Also post closing. My most recent title in the industry was Quality Control Specialist. I have been away from the industry and work for almost 4 years. This was due to a residence relocation(Florida to Michigan)which overall was a process that took approx 2 yrs. During this time I was unable to find work for 3 month periods to fill the gaps while going back & forth from state to state. Also, the economy that once offered many seasonal/part-time fill-in jobs was not so plentiful so I went without working during this time. It was April 2009 and I was now making my last relocation move and ready to arrive in Michigan, get fully settled and pursue full-time employment. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in May 2009 and with this I had to put my job search on hold while I attended to my health. I am now a survivor, clean bill of health. I feel the time off to take care of my health issue has affected my opportunities of gaining employment. I did want to be unemployed, but it was in my best interest. But it has, unfortunately, affected my ability to gain enployment. A large percent of employers want to see that you have worked in the last 6 months, or they have no interest in you. And seeking employment nowadays, so much of it is the internet. How much can you explain about the extinuating circumstances that kept you from working via the internet? It is very frustrating & discouraging. I have worked full-time from the age of 18. And yes, I am a mature person seeking employment. But with this maturity comes experience. I have excellent customer service and communicative skills no matter the industry. I also have worked directly with customers outside the mortgage industry. I started several of my careers as receptionist or cashier ( automobile industry )and was promoted along the way as I presented my desire to work and learn as much as I could to be an asset in as many ways possible to the company that employed me. I have made a decision. If I have the opportunity to revive my career in the mortgage industry, I am willing to start at any level/any position if it means gaining emloyment. I feel it is actually a good thing after being out of work for the last 4 years. I am willing to accept other positions/titles in different fields that I can learn. I am far too young to sit around and do nothing. I truly miss working. Every aspect of it. I need to be out there not only for what i can do for the customers...most importantly .. for myself. Thank you for your time in finding out a little about me. I hope there is a company that will give me a chance, the opportunity, to return to the person I like to be. Betty DelPlace
