I have been a geriatric nurse for over 35 years. I would like to continue help the older comunity to maintain an active life and continue to expand my knowledge in helping others to overcome the challanges that come along during the twilight years of the older community. I am certified in geriatrics, quality assurance, proficient in MDS, care planning.I have recieved commendation for explaining the death of a mother to a mentally handicapped woman.My skills with families in their time of berevement are exceptional. My people skills with anxious families are excellent and I have been successful in allaying fears of realitives by explianing policy and procceedure in reguard to family members.In my course of employment I have supervised nurses and other departments in getting vital care to the residents in my charge including transfers to other facilities when needed or home to return to live with family members explaining in detail what was needed to keep their loved ones safe and as healthy as possible and continue to live as part of the family unit. I have run a health care clinic that included vaccinations TB testing and procured appointments with physicains in every scope of care that may be needed to maintain their lives.
