In my present job, I receive and register cytogenetic samples. Culture, harvesting and banding of chromosomes from peripheral blood, skin and other tissues, amniotic fluid, chorionic villus sampling and bone marrow. I perform direct microscope screening, analysis of metaphase plates, Image analysis / Automated Karyotyping (Metasystems), FISH (Fluorescent in situ Hybridization) on (a) prenatals, (b) haematological disorder, (c) microdeletion / duplication syndromes. I also prepare reports using AUSLAB database.
