- Surgery Technologist, Mineral Area Regional Medical Center, Farmington, MO 63640 I work in all areas of surgery. I specialize in orthopedics and ophthalmology and general cases. I not only pass the instruments but work in the role of first assistant with the doctor on most of the surgeries. I have trained several people while they were working to get their certifications. I keep the cast cart and casting materials ordered for the O.R. suite. I prepare instruments and supplies for next day surgeries, and work with sales representatives to make sure we have special instrumentation ordered for various surgical procedures I am responsible for ordering specialty stock items. Rotation of inventory. Maintenance, sanitation and aseptic cleansing of intricate specialty surgical instrumentation. Proficient in techniques of acquiring and implantation of intricate human and donor grafts. Ability to perform under stressful situations dealing with life and death. Proactive in assessment and observation of sanctity of sterile technique. Able to think rationally, effectively, outside the box if the situation arises. I have done clinical training with several surgical technologist students over the past several years, we did have a school in our hospital. I take call every 4th weekend and one day a week. Current salary history is $17.32 an hour.

I worked in the Central Supply area and as a Surgical Technologist. We did not do very much surgery. I was on call every other week. We did mostly laparascopic gallbladders, upper and lower scopes, and breast biopsies. Salary history was $11.00 an hour.
