Employment in medical practice sterile processing Prepares instruments and supplies through cleaning, packing, sterilizing and storing. Understands principles of sterilization techniques and operates sterilization equipment. Assembles and sets up instruments trays for operating rooms. Assists in departmental cost containment efforts. Performs equipment distribution and routing cleaning and maintenance. Performs crash cart restocking/exchange. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Orients and mentors new staff members. Supports the center's mission by dependability in attendance, punctuality, the timely completion of care and other assignments, resource and information management, and attention to principles of quality service. Able to operate bar code instrument tracking system .Dissemble, clean, assemble and test specialty instrumentation and equipment for proper functioning, able to differentiate between single-use and reusable items. Prepare trays and wrap and/or package items for designated areas according to prescribed procedures.
