My most significant impact is my appearance to the patient. I am the first person they see before seeing the doctor. If they are in a bad mood or upset about something, I try to take there mind off of what ever is bothering them. We usually have a conversation while I'm checking there vitals. I break the ice and make them feel more comfortable. Alot of people have what they call "white coat syndrome" usually very nervous. When the doctor is ready to see them, I escort them to their room and they thank me.
