CollapseDescription

Professional attitude and appearance. Graduated with Honors. Experience in most areas of the Law. Proficient in all types of Research, be it from looking up case law from the Law Library, to using the Internet or any of the research programs now available such as Lexis Nexis to obtain the information that is needed by the attorney when preparing briefs.Exceptional interpersonal skills with both co-workers and clients, I am a loyal employee and friend. I am able to communicate with people from all walks of life and I am creative in solving problems, and my knowledge of the Law inables me to bring in more income to the firm by charging a lower fee (as a Paralegal) when talking to clients on the phone and fielding calls that the Attorney(s) would otherwise have to take time to return. I have a very strong work ethic and I believe in giving my employer the best that I can give. I believe in earning my pay, if I am being paid to work 8 hours then I give the employer 8 hours of work.

CollapseAccomplishments

Highlights:

Accompanied the Attorney to Federal Court on an Age Discrimination suit against Lockheed Martin. This was brought by 2 Gentlemen that had been dismissed due to a Reduction in Force. Both were over 40 and had been with Lockheed Martin and it's predecessor for many years. There where over 500 exhibits, depositions that lasted over a week. Sanctions were awarded because the firm representing L.M had failed to disclose discovery which was given to another employee that had been in the RIFF, with the clients name, but had not been given to the Attorney for the Defendants. I also Accompanied another attorney to General Sessions Court in Knox County to maintain and organize exhibits, etc. Created a Web Page for my Employer. Appeared at Docket Soundings (where allowed) to set cases for my Employer on the Docket for Hearing. Notary Public

Companies I like:

I prefer to work for a small law firm, but would consider working for an Attorney (of Counsel)in a large corporation. I enjoy Family Law, although it can be the most time consuming and the hardest when it comes to dealing with clients and family, especially if children are concerned and their are custody issues.

CollapseResponsibilities

Working for Three(3) attorneys, who practice different areas of the Law gives me the ability to learn different facets of the law. My responsibility as a Paralegal included but did not end at: maintaining a current Law Library. Interviewing Clients, dictating and sometimes typing letters to clients, in RE: Court dates, Answers to Interrogatories, helping them answer Interrogatories, answering the many questions that they had concerning matters of law that they did not understand. Preparation for Deposition and for Court. These tasks and others created more revenue for the office by billing at a reduced rate a Paralegal hourly rate that if I had not been able to do these things would have been done either by the Receptionist for no fee, or by the Attorny himself and costing the client more, and taking up more of the Attorney(s) time that he could be using to work on other cases thus billing more clients than just speaking to the one client. I created a Web Page for the Law Firm,in 1999, and had it approved by the Chairman of the Board of the Professional Responsibility, Lance Bracy, meeting all the requirments of having a web presence, but not violating any mandates that were set as far as advertising. This alone put the Law Firm on many more Search Engines, and created more new clients. Accompanied
