By reviewing vulnerabilities we found that UPMC was vulnerable to SQL Slammer and took steps to shut down tcp-1433 and tcp-1434 in all perimeter firewalls. While other companies were crippled by this attack UPMC stayed up and running. We patched all servers and patient applications were able to stay up and running.
