Jun 2000 Patient Sen/ice Assistant Veterans Affairs Honolulu, Hawaii 96819-9898 Duties: Working as a patient service assistant, I first started off at the front counter to check veterans for their appointment. My occupation involves technical work concern the privacy and sensitive information of the veterans. My duties and responsibilities to make sure their annual means test are done in a timely manner in which wiill determine if he will copay or not. Answering telephone take message, direct calls to the appropriate modules. Knowledgeable of computer. Registering veterans by using computer to input their information. Ensuring that information being released is limited to material requested and conforms to va directives and policies. Scheduling appointment, print appointment letters, print encounter forms. Knowledgeable of electronic information. Knowledgeable of scanning documents. Knowledge of registering veterans. Explain to veterans of their medical beneiits and take their va photo ID. if the need to file for their claim, I direct them where to go and file their claim at beneiits E-wing. Performs independenly the full range of duties required to process their registration, practical knowledgeable of medical teminollogy to understand my job. Perform duties for OEF/OIF when the military unit came back from Persian Gulf. A group of us goes out to either at Ft Shafter or National Guard at Kapolei ofr PDHRA. Explain to veterans of their medical benefits with the Veterans Affairs either for: Post Traumatic Syndrom Disorder (PTSD). Mental Health, Dental etc. KSA'S 1-Knowledge of the use of computer program, understandint the applications and utilization practices for scheduling or rescheduling appointment. Sending and Receiving sensitive information. 2-Veterans seek to see a psychiatrist in mental health for Post Traumatic Syndrome Disorder (PTSD). Have veteran go to mental health to schedule an appointment for his condition. 3-When veteran request an appoitment for certain date, check computer for his clinic to see if any availability on the requested and time of the appointment. 4-l voluntary come in early before my work start time at 0630. I tn/ to do all the online registrations and outer island cboc registrations before start time when veterans start to come to registered. 5-Communicate effectively with employees professionally on question related to job descriptions. Also, communicate and understand veterans needs.
