Summary A native of Virginia, my career has revolved around higher education/administration, inpatient and outpatient mental health/behavioral healthcare services, HRM and organizational development to include CISM and emergency trauma response. I have held numerous administrative (associate dean, dept. chair, program director) and academic faculty appointments (full-time, core faculty, adjunct, sabbatical, visiting) with colleges, private universities and state-based systems. Additionally, I have edited, authored or co-authored numerous books, dozens of book chapters and peer- reviewed journal publications or articles in behavioral sciences and psychology. I advise and sit on several editorial journal boards that include psychology, public safety and mental health. I have been fortunate to contribute to the field of psychology, public safety, and behavioral sciences as a university professor, author, editor, researcher, consultant and former state public service mental health treatment provider (Virginia). I completed 2 predoctoral internships in clinical psychology at the Veterans Administrative Medical Center (VAMC) in La Jolla (APA training site) and clinical-health psychology and neurorehabilitation at Sharp Healthcare (Cabrillo) in San Diego. After receiving my doctorate, I completed 2 post-docs working in an outpatient private practice (psych. assistant) in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and in a College Personal Wellness and Behavioral Health Center in San Diego. My other experiences include working for the Scripps Center for Quality Management in HRM and Behavioral Health. I was a former OCSD reserve, FEMA mental health clinician and DHS operations officer between 1997 - 2014 I reside in San Diego with my wife Eileen and my 2 daughters. I am a former 4 sport varsity athlete with interests that include hiking, cycling, golf, traveling, gardening and cooking.
