Description
Professional Summary I have a passion for global eradication of infectious diseases through quality research. I began my research in the field of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria by determining the effects of caprine helminthosis on serum proteins. This study showed that helminthes in goats tend to reduce serum protein and induce low immunity and susceptibility to various diseases. I then went on to obtain a master's degree at the same institution under the supervision of Dr. Ademola A. Owoade. While working with Dr. Ademola, I joined the team that investigates the emergence of the highly pathogenic strain of avian influenza virus H5N1 into Nigeria. I screened several poultry farms for the presence of H5N1 virus and concluded that all age groups of birds were equally susceptible. After some years of research and clinical practice in the field of Veterinary Medicine, I went ahead to obtain a PhD in Biological Sciences at the University of Notre Dame. The focus of my PhD research was on malaria parasitology, pathology and therapeutics, and these studies aimed at determining scientific insights into developing novel intervention approaches against severe malaria. Currently, I am involved in developing vaccine against the potential bioterrorism agent Francisella tularensis. I am willing to join a career in academics, research and/or clinical trials.
