A Career Law Enforcement Veteran with over 32 years of combined experience as a Police Sergeant, Patrol Officer and as a County Sheriff. Devoted his initial Police service to the Corpus Christi Police Department for over 22 years of dedicated service where he was recognized with Two (2) Officer of the Year Honors. He also served almost 10 years as the Top Law Enforcement Officer of the Nueces County as the County Sheriff. He was elected by voters overwhelmingly to three (3) consecutive 4 year terms as Sheriff. As Sheriff, he managed an 18 million annual budget which included Law Enforcement/Warrants/Narcotics, CID Operations, Jail and Court Security. Managed 325 Law Enforcement and Correctional Officers, 1000 inmates in two jail facilities. He was also responsible for managing the safety and security of the County Courthouse, all District, County, Juvenile, and Appellate Courts. Collaborated closely with Local, State, and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies including FBI, NCIS, US Marshals, DEA, ICE, US Border Patrol and US and Texas Attorneys Office.
