COVER LETTER: Attn: Personnel Department Your posted openings for a variety of positions describe some interesting challenges, but certainly not uncommon for your industry. I believe my background to be a good fit for your company and would like to explore this opportunity with you. It also appears that your company values communication and team attitude, that's a plus in my book. For a majority of 25-30 years I positioned myself as a consultant/production manager in the printing/marketing industry. My skillset thrives in any technical, fast paced and a constantly changing environment. In the past four to five years I was an owner of an almond sorting facility in Atwater Ca, I sold the company and stayed on for one year to train the new owners, where I then left and became a lead machine operator for a few months. I have worked hard, from the ground up to understand the mechanics of food processing. Yes, I can handle job costing, statistical analysis, production and workflow tracking, SQF and related programs, or sit down and discuss strategic decisions concerning improvements for future growth. All companies have different ways of handling these issues and more. I know how to respect that. Although I like office work and can get it done efficiently and on time. I consider myself a very good floor manager. I know how to get my hands dirty. I believe my greatest skill is communication/motivation of others. There's no better place to do that than working right alongside those that you manage. I want people to want to work for their employer. I know how to change attitudes and make that happen. I am open to positions that are non managerial if the fit is right. I look forward to hearing from you Thank You: Cover ltr OBJECTIVE: Machines and tracking systems can be taught, I've trained several hundred people how to run machines. And I really enjoy that aspect of food processing. Finding a company that has learned how to create a culture of respect and a team work attitude would be my first objective. Bottom line, this is the greatest strategy towards success. Or if your company doesn't run that way, let me change that for you. Training and Technical Plant safety and SQF procedures were constantly taught and enforced and I became the trainer and watchdog over these issues. As an owner of an almond sorting facility I was responsible for all decisions concerning the sorting of almonds and pistachios, Including warehouse organization, machine maintenance and quality control. I was also a fulltime machine operator. For years we sorted reject material (hash) as a service to others. This required a much more advanced knowledge of equipment capacity and capability. I became very proficient as an operator and trainer by experience and formal training by the EM on the following types of equipment, sizers, aspirators, electronic sorters, gravities, picking lines and x-ray equipment and more. Communication and Problem Solving Food processing facilities as in all production environments all have their unique work flow problems. It can come from many directions, machine breakdowns, product changes, customer/owner demands, accidents, weather, contamination, miscommunication and certainly employee issues. all of these can change the best of intentions. When the unexpected occurs, as it will, the ability to take charge, communicate and get others on board to quickly resume high performance standards is paramount. These are great opportunities for managers to build teamwork and respect between managers and production workers. I excel in this area. Organizational Skills Warehouse order, movement of inventory during production and the constant changes require someone that can stay ahead of the flow. I do well in this area. Management Integrity among managers is always a good thing. Managers usually have defined goals based on the historic history of a company. A mid-level managers role, is to match or exceed those expectations with whatever tools they are given. Managing people is where I feel I excel. Motivating and building teams comes natural to me. It wasn't always that way. It's a learned process that I believe takes years. A final word: I'm sure there is more you might want to know about me. I would appreciate the opportunity to see if we can match my years of experience to your companies need.
