Dear Hiring Manager, I'd like to give you a brief overview of my skills and experience. I am confident that I can bring value to your organization. Prior to my recent experience as a Health Services Administrator I successfully ran my own private practice as a Doctor of Chiropractic. Unfortunately, due to a shoulder injury requiring surgical repair I sold my practice and went into the field of correctional medicine as a Health Services Administrator for the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC). My experience as a Health Services Administrator for various facilities within the Department of Corrections, has given me valuable experience related to how each of these facilities operate and the fact that every facility has its own nuances. I am proud to say I was the first Chiropractor to be hired in the DOC as an HSA and subsequently they have hired two more Chiropractors as HSA’s. One of my most important contributions is the building of strong teams within Clinical Services (CLS) at each facility. I have several staff that I hired and mentored that have excelled in their positions as well as held higher levels of leadership. My emphasis on following policy and striving for excellence while holding staff accountable to excellent team work makes me a great addition to your team. It has been my experience that training or reading a manual gives limited answers to the everyday questions that arise from being a Clinical Manager. My experience as a Regional Health Services Administrator and an HSA in a unique setting gives me valuable insight both operationally, fiscally and dealing with personnel issues. Being a source of experience, knowledge and leadership is valuable to staff and gives them the confidence to rely on me and follow my lead. The experience and wisdom of a HSA is critical to helping manage the varied circumstances and staffing issues an HSA will encounters. As a Regional HSA I have expanded my level of expertise as a Health Services Administrator, my experiences are now at a higher level of contract monitoring, budget analysis and dealing with HR issues. I was developing policy as a member on several critical committees such as the Pharmacy and Treatment committee, succession training committee, Security services contract lead and more. This kind of experience caused me to be recruited by the private side of the industry. I have succeeded in meeting customer expectations and raising the level of care provided for the Sheriff’s department in Pueblo. I have been on the road for the past 7 years and working with the incarcerated patient, I am excited about the opportunity to work locally and with a different type of patient as I did before selling my practice.
