Description
SUMMARY: 11+ years of postsecondary educational experience, primarily at a community college, where affective abilities, skills, and giftedness are fundamental for students' successful learning experience and affirmative relationships with faculty and administration 14 years of service, experience, and leadership in for-profit, high tech companies where fiscal and strategic planning skills were essential, as well as creative problem-solving, thoughtful crisis management, and positive employee/public relationships 14+ years of dedicated service to not-for-profit, cross-cultural organizations where genuine commitment to intercultural and diversity issues were elementary for hundreds of inter-racial, -religious, and -generational interactions. I believe that together these three major avenues of positive and successful experiences qualify me for an executive position in higher education which requires extensive communication, creative problem-solving, long-range and strategic planning, affective, cognitive, collaborative, emotional intelligence, intercultural, and other social skills. ACADEMIC PREPARATION: Ph.D. in Education and Applied Human Resource (in progress), Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO Concentrations: Community College Leadership (as of April 2007, I have one last semester of course work followed by my dissertation). My current plan is to conduct a critical theory research to understand effective postsecondary classroom leadership for the underrepresented (often referred to as "at-risk") collegiate students. I also believe that culturally relevant teaching, authentic teachers and leadership, and transformative education will enhance the success of postsecondary students, especially those who are underrepresented in our colleges and universities. I also studied and value servant and spiritual leadership, observing the characteristics of those who practice it and social outcomes from its practice I believe this type of leadership will transform individuals and the work-environment.
