Career Highlights: Improved plant efficiency by over 5% through employee involvement and input in the day to day operations in the first 3 months of starting as Production Manager. Expanding upon this as Operations Manager, we have improved efficiency by another 5% and reduced the time from order to ship for 85% of our product to less than 3 weeks. Successfully closed the Woodruff production activities and move these activities to the two sister facilities without interruption to production or customer service. Simultaneously moved the Engineering, Purchasing, Sales and support functions to Duncan, SC. Developed my staff to use visual management and to apply company policy with consistency to achieve 100% improvement in associate retention. Organize and developed my department staff to lead production output and quality in two new model start-ups. To achieve this, engineering and supervisory staff was added to fill major voids. Quality standards were changed to focus at the operator level. The use of visual management (safety, quality, delivery, cost, and associate) was used as the standard. As a senior manager, I was a key player in developing the plan to successfully change of our manufacturing departments from a process control to total product control responsibility. This aided in our development of our QS 9000 system. Opened a green field plant based on the Toyota Manufacturing System. I trained in Japan to transfer SPC, JIT, Kanban, and other skills to US associates. I was responsible for developing the first production reporting system, and the tool room and maintenance section's organization. This was instrumental in achieving Ford Q1 in the first year of operation. Reorganized a job shop-machining department to meet 98% completion on jobs with drawings & material in 48 hours. After the resignation of a key project engineer, I was given the production department he was supporting. I learn and develop this equipment, which supported two product lines and launched a new product line with my team of setup, maintenance, and production associates.
