Work has contributed significantly to the understanding of the molecular mechanisms of virulence of several classes of diarrheagenic E. coli, Shigella, Vibrio cholerae, Brucella abortus, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and others. * Highly-cited researcher with over 70 peer-reviewed publications in prestigious scientific journals (Science, PNAS, J. Clin Invest, Mol. Microbiol, J. Biol.
