Description
Drilling Western Oklahoma Drilling Marmaton horizontal wells, 5000' to 10,000' horizontal legs to a MD of approximately 17,000' Unstable and over pressured formations are some the conditions and obstacles encountered. Loss circulation with exposed gas zones was also a concern, most trips were made while holding back pressure and stripping in & out of the hole. Some losses were exceptional at times and with oil base mud. These were very good wells so the economics may have out weighted the cost. My rigs set several footage and depth vs time drilling records in this area. Woodford Horizontal wells in the central Oklahoma region. These wells consisted of 5000' & 10,000' horizontal production legs. TVD ranging from 11,000' to 16,000' and MD at TD of 18,000' to 22,500'. Most of the curves were built on 8 to 12 deg. inclination per 100' to approximately 90 degrees. Drilling fluids were water based LCND & 80% oil based DM. Problems encountered consisted of lost circulation and over pressured gas zones. Supplying on location supervision for drilling and completion operations as well as P&A operations.
