Management Plan Revision Process Listening Sessions to benchmark SPU's understanding of wildfire risk and management activities, and, additional actions, if any, SPU should take to address its wildfire risk. Interviewees often had significantly different forest and fuel types, climate conditions, fire regime, topography, and other physical land characteristics resulting in significant variations in how wildfire is addressed. Used gathered information to help SPU characterize factors affecting its wildfire risk to determine what, if any, activity changes SPU might address (Final Report near completion) Pacific Northwest (OR WA) and Pacific Southwest (CA) Regions of the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) 2015 Interviewed several dozen individuals representing cross-section of local state and federal government representatives plus range of additional stakeholders to obtain input re: design of listening sessions and the forest plan revision process. Designed and facilitated three public listening sessions (WA OR CA) re revision of forest management plans within the Northwest Forest Plan area. Assessed and managed complex planning and logistical considerations on this high-profile and divisive issue including endangered species. Combined sessions allowed for more than 300 government industry recreation conservation academic tribal (Pit River Tribe Yurok Tribe Winnemem Wintu Tribe Tulalip Tribe) and other stakeholders to provide feedback to the USFS on this forest plan revision process through breakout session notes and comment forms. Consolidated detailed session information and wrote final report (on line).
