PROFILE Plumbing & Fire Protection Department Manager, who brings over 30 years of expertise in the design of plumbing and fire protection systems for commercial, industrial and high-rise residential style projects. As a Lead Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer, I would oversee the design of projects including system evaluations, meeting with clients, load calculations, equipment selection and sizing, code review, system coordination with other trades. PLUMBING: * Write proposals to secure new projects * Maintained close contact with the Clients during all phases of the projects. * Wrote or directed the writing of Pre-Construction narratives describing the scope and equipment relative to the discipline, for review by Contractors/Owner/Architect. * Evaluated the available existing utilities, including water, sewer, natural gas, storm sewer and coordinated our designs to be compatible with them. * Review projects, internally, in the office, for any coordination issues/errors or missing information, prior to submitting the "Permit" and Construction Documents" sets. * Write project specifications, address RFI's (requests for information) and assist in resolving any issues arising in the field during construction. * Attend Pre-Construction meetings at the site, to review the plans and discuss the construction schedules with the Owner/Architect/Contractor. * Perform site visits for determining the condition of existing buildings and the systems, for prospective buyers of a building. This sometimes was for a Client who already bought a building and we would do a survey to determine what systems require maintenance or replacement. Fire Protection: * Review each project for the fire protection requirements and discuss with the local Authorities Having Jurisdiction and in cases where applicable, the Owner's Insurance Underwriters. * Perform Code Analysis. * Evaluate the existing municipal water supplies for their ability to support the anticipated systems, designed for the project. * Size fire pumps and determine routing of all standpipe mains throughout the building, producing riser diagrams, for the standpipe systems. * Calculate the sprinkler/standpipe water demands to confirm the available water supply is adequate. * Designed Clean Agent systems, including FM-200, Inergen, Fog systems (by Orr), VESDA Detection Systems, Pre-Action, Wet and Dry systems. * Met with the Owner/Architect to discuss progress of the designs throughout the project schedule. * Write project specifications and review the shop drawings/hydraulic calculations submitted by the installing Fire Protection Contractor.
