General Manager Position in a purebred and commercial cattle operation on a national level. This position will make use of skills, abilities and training in: planning all aspects of cattle operation locating farm and lease land to support operation creating a product that would be in demand producing a product of superior quality, monitored through proper matings organizing of staff and fundraising for breed association and membership managing sales, farming operation and breeder's association of 100 members negotiating support from officers and directors of organizations BACKGROUND SUMMARY Lifetime of relevant experience in an agricultural environment with management responsibilities for: sales and marketing evaluation embryo transplantation - artificial insemination inventory and record controls feed lot scheduling and nutrient level fitting and showing on a national level pasture rotation, crop development and nutrition control beef and dairy operation profit and loss responsibility breeding and confirmation selection and calving management DEMONSTRATION OF EFFECTIVENESS Planned, started and managed a cattle operation and supporting farm. Selected breeding stock, managed nutritional development, supervised calving and sales. Result: Within three years demand became greater than the farm could supply. Bred cattle nationally with latest methods in embryo transplanting. Result: Super Cow #119 became Gold Trophy Dam in a single show season with points collected by her progeny, as well as being named "Dam of the Year" for the Polled Hereford Breed. Managed a feed lot operation. Determined feed grain rates developed feed mixtures and vaccination program. Result: Increased grains by 57% from 1.9 pounds per animal per day to 3.4 pounds per animal per day. Created a purebred product by producing cattle with high weaning weights (females at 625 pounds, bulls at 700 pounds) and low birth weights (averaging 65 - 85 pounds) with superior milk. Result: Demand exceeded supply. Planned, started, selected breeding stock for Blue-Gray Cattle Co. Started purchasing purebred cattle in spring of 1984 In two years' time produced top bull at test station and received Premier Breeder award . Located top herd of cattle to start a purebred breeding operation, along with a super herd bull. Result: Topped all Virginia Polled Hereford sales seven years in a row. Helped organize the first Polled Hereford Association in Virginia. Produced the first breed directory. Organized other projects to raise revenue.
