Daily Duties at Select Specialty Hospitals:

Hired to operate the pharmacy in the absene of the DOP, assigned to 2 hospitals within the chain and take all on-call operations. Preformed order entry, reconciliation of new admits with DUR review, and verification of IV admixture, TPN, enteral and injectable medications orders with an eye toward the appropriateness of therapy in regard to organ function, disease state, concomitant therapies, and formulary management within EHR. Tracking labs for adjustments to TPN and anticoagualent therapies while providing best alternatives for therapeutic substitutions for doctors. Supervising workflow among 1-3 pharmacy technicians, continually transitioning between tasks and priorities without sacrificing accuracy, always to the benefit of the patients and nursing staff. Put in charge of all audits to ensure narcotics, medical records, billing, and TJC and hospital policies are strickly followed. Reporting to DOP with completed audits for entry into tracking system, for critique of nurses and staff as well as P & T commitee preparation. Teaching Orientation Class regularly for newly hired nurses, respiratory and physical therapist. Provide concise drug information to physicians, nurses, family and patients, with the highest level of compassion, while serving as an informational and patient problem solving resource. Taking family and patients from confort care conferences to discharge education with total satisfaction. Managing crash carts in rapid response and code situation to the benefit of the team and patient. Providing the same high level of compassion, empathy, humility and concern that I give to our patients, my dealings with physicians, nurses and the pharmacy team has allowed me to produce great efficinecy and success as a hospital pharmacist.
