Daily Duties at Department Of Homeland Security/Tsa:

Provides Federal Security Director (FSD) with operational support and management advisory services in classification, compensation & pay, employee benefits, collective bargaining agreement, employee relations, position management, personnel processing, recruitment, and staffing. Provides authoritative interpretations and guidance on HR matters based on Office of Personnel Management and TSA policies, procedures and practices, as well as senior level HR guidance and directions from TSA’s Office of Human Capital. Honored with three awards for outstanding service. Responsible for over 700 TSA employees at Detroit Metropolitan and 3 satellite airports. Recruiting and Hiring Accomplishments.  Developed and instituted hiring programs, Local Hiring/Recruitment, Orientation, Fingerprinting, ID Badges, and e-86 (Background Investigation) non-compliant issues.  Assists, guides and recommend action involving all benefit areas.  Revised & streamlined the manpower planning process, reducing the hiring process time from 90 days to less than 60 days.  Provided staffing forecast plus succession training. Training Accomplishments.  Authored and implemented training modules for the employee performance program for both hourly and salaried employees.  Developed and instituted orientation training for all new hires and transfers.  Provided leadership training to all newly promoted supervisors and managers.  Developed and conducted Employee Relations training to all supervisory personnel.  Developed and provided training to all Management employees on interpretation and compliance to the collective bargaining agreement. Performance and Labor Relations.  Provides guidance & counsel for grievances and OAB appeals. Advisor/counselor for Union Contract interpretation.  Slashed disciplinary processing time from 45 to 25 days by streamlining procedures.  Developed and managed leave & attendance policy, including FMLA, advance Sick Leave & Personal Medical request. Miscellaneous Accomplishments.  Directed and lead HR Staff in transition to a new electronic filing system.  Team Lead and backup to Administrative Officer.  Assists, guides and recommend action involving all benefit areas.  Developed and instituted programs for Work Place Violence, Fingerprinting, Public Transportation Program,  Project manager for first company-wide internal audit program. Provided and instituted an after action plan to insure compliance to formal audit. Team received recognition from corporate audit team for action plan and final compliance.  Member of Safety & Critical Action Team.  Introduced workplace analytics. Provided tracking for FMLA, attendance, leaves of Absence, workers comp cases, and discipline cases. Improved retrieval time and accuracy of information by25%.
