Daily Duties at Washington Hardwoods:
Provide the CEO with an independent business assessment of this subsidiary as a going-concern. Evaluation of the business model itself included an exhaustive amount of detail work to understanding the selling process (values) and validating the manufacturing processes actual costs (expense) to see if margins for continuation were in fact worth pursuing? The sales history as well as published forecasts of the business could not be validated and a process of developing a documented and validated forecast ensued. The process of gathering business information consisted of daily meetings with managers, employees, customers and/or vendors Any and all information utilized in the analysis had to be validated from information and not just opinions. A lack of good historical data and current business reporting tools hindered the approach, but the team-work approach does provide an exhaustive amount of information if people feel trust of leadership and safe in their jobs to share opinions for improvement. This process was very successful in validating the business information secured was valid and useful for business decisions.
What they like about Washington Hardwoods:
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
