Daily Duties at Oracle America Inc.(Client Site – United States Marine Corps Usmc Gcss Mc Quantico, Virginia):

My day-to-day responsibilities for the USMC project in Quantico, VA were as follows: The Oracle Consulting project Team for this project consisted of over 150 consultants, this was the largest project Oracle had ever done to that point. The client was the US Marine Corp in Quantico, Va. In our group we had an Oracle project manager and 8 technical resources There were many Oracle Functional consultants and we worked with them as needed to complete our assignments Our group was responsible for creating the code that would automatically migrate selected Oracle modules to 6 other instances when the oracle modules were either first created or modified The reason for this is that when the Marines are deployed to different parts of the world and most of them in war zones they need to take as little equipment as they can. In this application they would take a smaller computer consisting of a minimum of Oracle modules and it would be a snap-off version of the entire Oracle system that would be left behind. Once in the field they needed to have access to a few select Oracle modules and be able to update data in these modules which would in turn update the main computer back in its original location. That is where our group came in. Each technical person on the team was responsible for 1 or more Oracle modules. We would write all the necessary code to enable these modules to be centralized and yet feed the data to wherever the Marines were located any where in the world via satellite. Some examples of the modules modifed were; HR, Depot Level Maintenance, Installed Base, Service Contracts, Counters and Counter groups, Inventory I was responsible for the Service Contracts module and the Counters/Counter groups and these were the most complicated of all the modules being converted. There was no open interface program for service contracts in 11.5.10 so I had to use the existing API's(Application Programming Interfaces) to complete the coding which made this task extremely difficult to complete. My original estimated time for completion for these modules was 1 year for two people. There never was a second person assigned It took me 4 months to create the Functional/Technical designs for the Service Contracts and the counters/Counter Groups and the remaining time was spent on writing code and migration scripts. For the service Contracts alone there were over 100 migration scripts
