Daily Duties at Oracle America Inc.(Client Was County Of San Diego, San Diego, California):
My day-to-day responsibilities for the proposal for the County of San Diego project were as follows: I was a member of the RFP(Request For Proposal) team and I was responsible for the following areas in the proposal: Oracle Fusion Middleware Technical Description Conversions/Interfaces/Reports Research of all Technical software and tools being used The majority of the work on this project took place in San Diego so I had to travel there every day(50 Miles) There were about 50 people working on this proposal from all parts of the country I completed my sections on time and submitted them to the Oracle Sales project manager My day-to-day responsibilities for the County of San Diego project were as follows: The Oracle project team consisted of 25 consultants; 15 Functional and 10 Technical resources The client consisted of about the same number of people 25, this varied depending on the phase of the project My primary role was the Interface lead and there were 50 interfaces to be converted from the old 11.5.7 oracle system to the new R12.1.2 system I was a member of the upgrade team and we performed 4 required upgrades prior to going live. This is a two step process. First you upgrade to 11.5.10 then you run all your checks and balances to make sure everything got moved over correctly before moving on. Once all the checks are done then you continue the upgrade from 11.5.10 to R12.1.3 which is the final step. Again you need to run all your checks and balances. 1 of my tasks was to supply all the SQL quereies for checking these values in the database at each step I submitted a weekly status report to the Oracle project Manager We had weekly design review meetings with the entire team and monthly meetings with the client There were 3 conference room pilots run for this project and I was tasked with supporting all of these. I was responsible for creating all the documentation for all 50 interfaces I was in charge of 3-5 developers to make any and all necessary changes for the 50 interfaces to ensure they worked in the the new R12.1.3 instance. I was responsible for all the interface testing in both the old 11.5.7 instance and the new R12.3 instance. I rewrote the Interfacing claims interface becasue of all the changes that were required in the new supplier and project modules I also wrote a new Cash Management process that enabled 14 of the external entities for the county to have their own individual bank account numbers rather than sharing an account with the other entities. I was also responsible for migrating all the interface code to production prior to go-live I was also responsible for uploading all the documention for the interfaces/reports/conversions to the client's sharepoint directory for safe keeping I was responsible for supporting the go-live over the Thanksgiving weekend 2011 I was responsible for production support for two weeks after go-live
What they like about Oracle America Inc.(Client Was County Of San Diego, San Diego, California):
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
