My day-to-day responsibilities for the analysis of JP Morgan Chase Bank performance issues I was a member of an Oracle team assigned to assist JPMC with resolving some major performance issues with their production system because it was crashing several times per day The team consisted of 8 people one of who was the Oracle Project Manager I submitted a weekly status report to the Oracle project Manager and we had short daily meetings to discuss all the issues I analyzed code and performed some troubleshooting on their current production system to determine the main cause of some of the performance issues as follows: Too many DB Links(Computer links to external systems) There were over 1500 of these Production code is not being optimized/tuned Search indexes on tables are not being used properly or not used at all Indexes dramatically improve performance There were many database triggers being used and we were not sure if they were even needed Too many functions being used,i.e. TO_CHAR, NVL, NUMBER, UPPER, LOwER etc. I performed many code reviews on the existing code and submitted my recommendations to the client for improvement I made as many suggestings as I possibly could along with the other team members When I left the project, it was not crashing any more
