Daily Duties at The Denver Post:
I was responsible for establishing, developing and maintaining a professional relationship with key advertisers in my teorritory base. The majority of my time at the Post, I worked with automotive accounts and dealing with car dealerships is very different from other advertisers. I maintained contact with key decision makers of companies doing business with our newspaper and I constantly went up against price comparison when my clients stated that they could get the ad cheaper at our competition. I was the under dog in automotive since the RMN was more of a blue collar paper and held the majority of the automotive accounts. It was a constant battle but I found creative ways to become successful. I was to achieve and increase advertising sales revenue (including online) with existing and new accounts. I needed to have a thorough understanding of the market and products sold in order to create professional and effective proposals as well as create and produce advertising layouts that are both attractive and results oriented.
What they like about The Denver Post:
You highly value a work environment built on a formal structure, rules, and regulations. You do not enjoy the unpredictability of shifting priorities and deadlines that upset your routine. You require and enjoy direction, input and accountability as part of your work environment. You have a strong need to participate in making key decisions and feel left out if your superiors or co-workers do not seek your input when making decisions. You thrive on providing good customer service to both internal or external customers, and doing so makes you feel good.
