Daily Duties at Usaf:
As an Aircraft Maintenance Production Apprentice (i.e Aircraft Maintenance Scheduler) [AFSC: 2R131]; I was responsible for completing all of my upgrade training to become an Aircraft Maintenance Production Journeyman. I was trained on how to schedule and document due maintenance for C-5 and KC-10 aircraft. To schedule and document the due maintenance such as time compliance technical orders (TCTOs), time changes, and maintenance inspections, I used the automated system GO81 and studied the use of the Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS) in my Career Development Courses. After completing my upgrade training for my OJT, finishing my Career Development Course volumes, and passing my End-of-Course Examination (CE), I was upgraded to Aircraft Maintenance Production Journeyman (AFSC: 2R151). As a journeyman I was responsible for the maintenance of historical documents, jacket file reviews, and maintenance work packages and had to chair and document the attendees of TCTO reconciliation meetings, pre-docks, and post-docks. I also took part in the responsibility of making the slides for the daily production meeting using Microsoft PowerPoint. I had to load daily flying missions into GO81 as well as produce a projected maintenance schedule for C-5 aircraft (daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly). **NOTE**I did this job while on MPA days, extended orders and on my reserve unit's UTA/IDT days.
What they like about Usaf:
Working for a company with an emphasis on social values and helping society is a clear and important priority for you - a critical factor in who you choose to work for. In contrast to other factors, you place an organization's reputation for fairness and concern for the community above most other aspects of the company. As you search for a new job opportunity, it is usually possible to find out if the company is involved in the community and/or if it is addressing problems and issues in society. Pay special attention to non-profit organizations and those specifically involved in social action. Moreover, speaking with current and former employees should enlighten you to perceptions of the fairness of the company's leaders and the treatment of employees.
