Daily Duties at Science Application International Incorporation (Saic):
Serve as Senior Analyst in support of Joint Elimination Coordination Element (JECE). Provide support to the Operations Officer (J3/5/7) for the unit and activities it underwent to transform (re-engineer) from its current organization, roles, and responsibilities, to that of the Standing Joint Force Headquarters for Elimination. Sat in as an adviser to the unit Chief of Staff, and J3/5/7 Operations, Plans, and Training Officer (second in charge). Provided them feedback on unit reorganizations that I had seen in the past as well as activities associated with rengineering an organization and the associated pitfalls. Additionally, The organization was challenged with developing an organizational structure that gave it the depth to operate effectively. I provided assistance to many of the staff section leaders by reviewing their change documents necessary to facilitate the redesign of the unit. Conducted walk through sessions on boards showing many variants of the organizations, and provided reassurance to section leaders experiencing uncertainty. Once I was able to get consensus on the structure of a section, I then sat down with them and assisted them in writing the justification documents that are being used today to request personnel fills. Furthermore, I was selected to participate in a series of Table Top Exercises to test concepts before the Joint Elimination Coordination Element actually transitioned to the Standing Joint Force Headquarters for Elimination. There we actually two Table Top Exercises where people gathered to discuss different scenarios that the headquarters would encounter and determine how those situations would be handled. I was assigned the task of developing the operational environment slide depicting the disposition of enemy and coalition forces for use by the group. In another capacity supporting the J3/5/7, I was assigned the task to write a classified document on Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction Operations during Offensive Operations. This was an area until to date nothing doctrinally had been written in the Joint Arena. Because I was a former Senior Observer Controller at the Joint Readiness Training Center, I found this task to be a pleasure to add to my other published documents and accomplished the task for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency J5 Plans Department.
What they like about Science Application International Incorporation (Saic):
A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
