Daily Duties at University Of North Dakota:
Flying MQ-9 Predator B contracted from UND to General Atomics and subcontracted to Customs and Border Protection. CBP Evaluator and Chief Instructor Pilot. Developed courseware for CBP and new UND academic degree program. Instruct and evaluate all phases of MQ-9 flight. Wrote and presented “Introduction to Unmanned Aircraft Systems” class. Built CropCam flying program to develop a database of UAS flights in the National Airspace System (NAS), as a foundation for future UAS flying regulations. Hired, trained, and supervised nine students to work as crew members in the CropCam program. Coordinated the purchase of three small UAS for the Aerospace department and two medium sized UAS for the Engineering department. Wrote COA applications to fly UAS in the NAS by the university. Currently have 26 COA’s approved by the FAA. 24 of my approved COA’s are in North Dakota, one in Washington state, and one is in Alaska. Work closely with the National Guard, Air Force, and local political powers on ongoing airspace issues.
