Daily Duties at The Ottumwa Courier:

I gained valuable experience being responsible for all facets of the Newspaper; I learned to keep an eye toward revenue growth while creating a sustainable business model. I managed a team of 5 department heads, leading them to the day to day process of producing a profitable newspaper, plus ensuring our customers that it would be delivered on time – 6 days per week. I was also responsible for profit & loss management that included, monthly reports, budgeting - creating, implementing, executing and monitoring for results. Also as General Manager I had the opportunity be the official public relations point person that included participation in community functions plus being a board member for the following; Rotary, Chamber and Ottumwa Progress Inc.
