Daily Duties at Department Of Human Resources: Child Support Enforcement:

As a consultant, I provided expert consultation to employees on the procedures and routines for their jobs. I compiled best practices and routines to create a standard operating procedure/ manual for this position. I was re-hired by the organization for the purpose of using the manual to train employees. As a legal secretary, I started new procedures for processing cases that were referred to the legal department. I also eliminated the back log of cases that had accumulated before my start date by developing an automated filing system. As a result, over 300 cases were processed and scheduled for court within a two week period for non-compliance of their court order. I also developed spreadsheets to maintain data and records of non-compliant customers; maintained data for each case referral in MS Excel spreadsheets; and, monitored cases and sorted them in spreadsheets based on set criteria. My other duties included communicating organization and customer needs to attorneys and court personnel; maintaining professional relationships through verbal and written communications with office staff, attorneys, judges, sheriff and civil service workers; and communicating both orally and in writing with clients. I also served as a liaison with Clerk of Courts, Dekalb County Superior Court Judge and Clerk of Courts, Dekalb County Sheriff Department, and attorneys; typed correspondence at 80 wpm; used MS Word and other processing software to word process documents; prepared mail; and made and distributed copies.
