Daily Duties at Chrysler Llc:
Led a cross functional team which defined the BIW design and process best practices for all Chrysler body engineering. The best practices were written with enough detail and simplification that an entry level engineer could design the vehicle. All of the best practices have been captured in a new web based database created by the team. All new vehicle platform teams from 2005 onward have been approved by the author. Developed 300+ design and process best practices Developed the BIW DVP & R for all vehicle and component systems Approved BIW design of thirteen new Chrysler vehicles Led a cross functional team in defining the AHSS design and process best practices for Chrysler body engineering. These best practices identify the key enablers for AHSS design and formability. Communicated the future AHSS tonnage projections with the steel companies and developed the necessary launch supply plan. Developed the design and process enablers to utilize TRIP 780 and DP 980 in serial production Responsible for pre-qualification of AHSS materials: materials, crash, forming, joining and supply Scheduled to launch TRIP 780 on serial production vehicle Chrysler Body lead for Light Weight Body design methodology and technical enablers for cost efficient future vehicle incorporation. Leader of the Light Weight Body team that identified mass savings of 13% compared with a previous generation vehicle. Lessons learned from this team have been incorporated onto two future generation vehicles. Chrysler lead on several Auto Steel Partnership projects: Future Generation Passenger Car, Mass Compounding, Mass Efficient Roof Structure. Developed laser welding design and process rules for use in Chrysler vehicle processing which identified potential weight savings of 5% for future vehicle programs DFSS Project Leader: Light Weight Body Architecture DFSS Project Leader: Morph Die Compensation Optimization DFSS Project team member: Laser Braze Roof Construction Led Body structure Material Cost Reduction team for five years. $35M material cost savings in 2007 $31M material cost savings in 2006 Released several Engineering and Process Standards (Welding and Launch Certification) Led a cross functional team that developed the multi-variable cost assessment tools used to set variable cost targets for new vehicle programs. The team developed tools for all body structural components. The team also developed an investment cost target macro that uses the key cost die cost drivers to identify the appropriate investment target Identified $30M investment target reduction for SUV program Identified $17M investment target reduction target for large car program Co-developed CATIA V5 requirement section templates and standard operating procedures for future vehicle applications. Developed the critical 30 sections that have been used on new vehicle design since 2005.
