Daily Duties at Sycamore:
Developed a Quality Management System based on ISO 9000:2000, TL9000 and SEI CMM that was focused on management involvement and product improvement. Used the program to define and solidify business practices, meet customer contract requirements and provide training to new hires during a time of rapid growth. The company grew from 325 to over 1250 people, and quarterly revenue grew from $29M to $149M, during the 14-month development of the program. • Obtained one of the first ISO 9000:2000 Registrations in the Telecommunications industry, via QMI. • Developed a Data Mine and a Metrics Dashboard tool to monitor quality metrics of hardware, delivery and change management, including TL9000 and GR-929 metrics to internal quality improvement and external customer reporting requirements. Implemented Training Tracking tools, Failure Analysis recording and reporting tools, an intranet/web based Issue Management System and a quality documentation control system. Developed a simplified process documentation strategy and structure that “became the standard of expectations for ISO 9000:2000” by the Registrar, and that required minimal manpower for maintenance. Developed and managed the internal quality audit program based on ISO Compliance, product quality and process effectiveness, and process improvements. • Implemented product quality monitoring and improvement through a set of cross-organizational Continuous Improvement Teams (CITs), primarily addressing hardware quality and eliminating the causes of ~ 60% of field failures. Provided training on Quality Management practices and requirements to the management team and staff. Developed a structure of divisional and corporate management quality reviews to actively monitor and improve quality, designed to ensure that management’s responsibilities were adequately addressed.
