As a Certified Medical Assistant in the Winter Haven Pediatric satellite office of Clark and Daughtrey Medical Group, P.A. Duties include both administrative and clinical responsibilities. Administrative tasks included, but were not limited to: pulling patient records, preparing the chart for physical review, filing patient records and dictations, answering telephones, scheduling appointments, assisting patients with paperwork, handling release of information and correspondences, training new employees, ICD-9-CM and CPT coding, verifying insurance, updating patient demographics, assisting with referrals and authorizations, and maintaining a clean facility. Clinical tasks included, but were not limited to: assisting patients with questions and concerns, obtaining and recording vital signs and medical histories, documenting procedures, preparing the patient for examination, assisting the physical during the examination, performing hearing and vision tests, preparing immunization and physical forms for patients, preparing and administering immunizations, clinical documentation, administering breathing treatments, collecting specimens, filing out lab requisition forms, informing the patients of information necessary for further treatment.
