Daily Duties at Integrated Team Director – Backup Flight System (Bfs) :
Challenged to relocate Level 5 CMM certified BFS software team from Huntington Beach to Houston following Columbia Space Shuttle accident. Accountable for product quality, schedule commitments and application of technical processes to design, development and verification activities leading to a Commit to flight position for BFS. Reported to the Associate Program Director for Flight Systems and Software Engineering for the Space Shuttle. - Met with 70 engineers and technical support staff in Huntington Beach to announce transition to Houston and offer incentives/promotions, persuading 10% of team to move to Houston. - Worked with incumbents to develop job descriptions then recruit, interview and hire new BFS team. Organized 6-month training and qualification program on complex BFS software architecture and proprietary computer language with incumbent team. - Implemented and led Configuration Control Board to review and approve changes to transitioned processes and product changes to deliverable products. - Adopted an integrated tool to manage and document peer reviews, adding more rigor to the process and decreasing defects. Interviewed and video taped incumbent BFS team to capture their knowledge and history relative to the product.
