Climbers who worked at University Auxiliary Services had these interests:
Books | |
---|---|
Moneyball: The Art of Winning and Unfair Game | An excellent book about baseball and about the value - and power - of unconventional wisdom. |
Omnivore's Dilemma : A Natural History of Four Meals | An excellent exploration of food, eating habits, environment and the food industry. Scary in places but provides areas for hope, exploration and choice. |
Twinkie, Deconstructed : My Journey to Discover How the Ingredients Found in Processed Foods Are Grown, Mined (Yes, Mined), and Manipulated Into What America Eats | Fascinating look at the list of ingredients on an American icon, the Twinkie. Makes you read food labels a bit more carefully. I was most fascinated by the flavor/scent industry and how very little we eat is 'real' anymore. If I taught, I'd use this book |
