Daily Duties at Madison Community Hospital:
Answered multi phone line, checked patients into ER, verified insurances, made new patient charts, checked patients out and took copayments or deductible payments, was transferred to Pam Bittner to be trained as an Endoscopic Technician. I was trained to sterilize all biopsy equipment, intruments, scopes, turn over room and clean for next patient, assisted the doctors with biopsies. Then I was trained as the Surgery Scheduler. I scheduled surgeries, verified insurances, called patients regarding preoperative appointments, instructions before surgery and times, typed up the charts, typed up the surgery schedule, copied and distributed it. During the time of being the endo tech I learned to bill the surgeries, inventory of hospital supplies, wrapping and delinting of towels for surgery, distributing supplies to various departments, putting supplies away. Before I left they wanted to train me as a Surgical Technician.
What they like about Madison Community Hospital:
You give high priority to hiring firms with prestige. Market reputation and prestige of a firm may be determined through on-line research, and conversations with individuals working in your target industry. Note that firms "in the public eye" receive a great deal more critical publicity and attention than those operating with more anonymity. So as you assess your employment opportunities, be sure to seek out the positive aspects of the firm's reputation in addition to noting negative publicity the company may have received.
