Daily Duties at Wesley House Community Services:

Responsibilities include the following: providing overall leadership to agency operation; planning, developing and implementing programs policy and procedure; developing and maintaining business, church and community relationships; assisting in developing, reviewing, and approving of grants and contracts. Other responsibilities include supervising executive staff, mediation, supervising the agency’s fiscal activities, monitoring and evaluating agency progress. As President/CEO I updated and implemented and received approval for the agency’s personnel policies, reviewed and revised job titles, descriptions and the organizational structure. The agency moved from a bi-monthly pay period to an every two week pay period. Wesley House implemented an automatic deposit pay system. Staff tuition assistance was established. Employee giving was implemented and 94% of staff agreed to give a percentage of their income back to Wesley House Community Services in support of its programs. Wesley House began a wage and benefits survey that was distributed to (9) agencies. Child Development Staff were raised from $5.75 to $6.75 per hour. Opportunities for child development training were increased. As President/CEO I maximized community resources and implemented plans that enhanced the agency’s social services programs by partnering with colleges, universities and high schools. Under my leadership, Wesley House Community Services approved a new vision statement and logo. I also spearheaded and implemented the sale of the old Wesley House Community Services building and formed a partnership with a dwindling Church which agreed to house Wesley House’s existing programs for $1.00 a month. As President/CEO of Wesley House Community Services I implemented a Threat Assessment Procedure for Wesley House Community Services. The Threat Assessment Procedures outlines a process for employees and constituents to access Domestic Violence assistance. I served as President of the United Neighborhood Alliance Louisville and being a National presenter on the topic “Settlement Houses/Working with Victims of Family and Domestic Violence”. I also developed an “Interdisciplinary Approach to Training Professionals in Family Domestic Violence and Abuse which was certified by the Kentucky Governor’s Council on Family Domestic Violence and Abuse. Responsibilities include representing the General Board of Global Ministries on various committees and facilitating a New Executive Director’s training for new Chief Executive Officers, planning the content of the agenda for a National Quadrennial conference and being chosen as workshop presenter on the topic of “Family Domestic Violence and Abuse”. I also represented Wesley House as a presenter at the National Black Family Conference on the topic, “Family Domestic Violence and Abuse and Its Impact on Families and Social Service Delivery”.
