Assistant Store Manager, In-Store Marketing (2001-2003) Charged with merchandising a 225,000 sq. ft. store generating $22 million in sales annually, requiring close monitoring of key performance metrics to identify effective product and signage placement. Oversaw profit and loss performance, controlled expenses, and ensured achievement of productivity goals. Managed the performance of 16 personnel, providing constructive reviews, coaching, and motivation to enhance results. ■ Implemented floor set changes, including the introduction of the Lands’ End brand into Sears, requiring close collaboration with vendors in space planning, allocation, and merchandising. ■ Cultivated employee-management relations, facilitating an open-door policy where team members felt comfortable voicing performance and organizational improvement ideas. ■ Reorganized team members to capitalize on core strengths, evaluating associates to determine key value, releasing nonperforming team members, and creating a high-performance environment. Sales Manager (1996-2001) Promoted to hold heightened levels of responsibility, managing as many as 45 sales and replenishment associates in the daily operation of up to 5 departments. Exceeded sales quotas based on volume, gross margin, payroll, and expenses. ■ Drove top scorecard performance, ranking 2nd out of 17 stores for customer service, and reduced turnover from 65% to 30%, by focusing on training, goal setting, and associate empowerment.
