Daily Duties at Northwest Medical Center:

As with my first employer, I've built my reputation and received promotions accordingly. I started as Director of Community Relations, during which time I handled all marketing, advertising, public relations, media relations and more for the hospital. In 2005, I was promoted to Vice-President of Human Resources and Marketing. I now oversee all the duties of the Community Relations department and serve as a Human Resources generalist with significant input on the executive committee, which consists of our CEO and four other vice-presidents. On a day-to-day basis, I'm responsible for recruiting and pre-screening/interviewing all applicants. In addition, I handle all benefits administration, employee relations, payroll and more. During my 2+ years in this role, I've added new benefits to our package, including dental, vision and free child care. Just this year, I negotiated to change our existing STD/LTD and employer-paid life insurance programs into new deals saving the hospital $30,000 per year and locking in those rates for three years.

What they like about Northwest Medical Center:

The social vibrance of a hiring firm is very important to you. Your ability to make and maintain friendships there is a critical part of your decision. You would likely be dissatisfied with a workplace that is quiet, cold, or otherwise not particularly social. When you investigate a new hiring company, ask recruiters, managers, and potential co-workers about the social life and opportunities there. This is especially important when you are relocating; moving dramatically alters your social sphere both inside and outside the workplace.
