Daily Duties at Nish:
• Lobbied Congress and executive agencies on federal disability and employment issues. Secured the addition of a key program during the conference committee meeting on the Defense Authorization bill that provided job opportunities to tens of thousands of individuals with severe disabilities. • Created and computerized grass-roots lobbying network, allowing NISH to respond in a swift, broad and inclusive manner to legislative and regulatory issues, including generating more than 100 letters to OMB in the course of one week. • Developed policy positions, testimony and legislative and regulatory proposals on key issues. • Represented organization in coalition efforts – served as co-chair to Social Security Task Force of Consortium of Citizens with Disabilities.
