Daily Duties at Biotechnology Industry Organization:

• Formed and lead BIO initiative to identify advocacy best practices to improve collaborations with third parties and to enhance the image of the biotechnology industry. • On behalf of BIO and its members, created and managed alliances with more than 300 organizations around health care policy issues. • Nurture stakeholders’ understanding of and active support for BIO’s positions on health, bioethics, reimbursement, intellectual property, regulatory and tax policies. Hold monthly briefings to ensure transparency and generate buy-in and trust. • Developed and implemented diversity-based outreach strategy that secured support from target minority groups on public policy regarding such issues as therapeutic cloning, plant-made pharmaceuticals and drug reimportation. • Lobbied in support of critical technology issues, including somatic cell nuclear transfer, embryonic stem cell research, small business innovative research grants, biomedical research funding, protection of Bayh-Dole Act and technology transfer laws and regulations. • Speak regularly at third-party venues on issues of mutual interest, from therapeutic cloning to drug safety, in order to stimulate active support for shared policy goals. • Created “welcome” lunches to provide opportunities for CEOs of third-party organizations to meet industry representatives and explore mutual interests.
