Daily Duties at National Governors Association:

• Developed policy papers on Homeland Security and Information Technology issues for the governors and the state homeland security advisors • Provided technical assistance to senior state policy makers on Homeland Security and Information Technology issues • Consolidated best practices being used and distributed to Governors and their senior staff • Provided expertise to state senior level policy makers • Interfaced and advised Governors’ staffs, Congressional members, and other federal and state agencies on Homeland Security Issues • Negotiated with federal agencies on implementing legislation at the state level • Liaised with the Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, and Office of the Director of National Intelligence on behalf of the state homeland security advisors • Developed grant proposals and program budgets resulting in federal contracts of over $4 million and over a three year period • Started an independent non-profit association for the state homeland security advisors
